I’m not sure if there’s anything more sad than a perfectly good cigar that does not get smoked during a video review shoot. Yet that’s exactly what happened here.
Your intrepid cigar reviewer has a bad head cold, along with strep throat and one or two other nasty things. To say that I don’t want a cigar is the very definition of understatement.
I had originally planned on reviewing the NUb Habano this week, with the CAO La Traviata coming next week. But I had pre-tested the CAO just before I got sick, so I switched the line-up order and put the NUb Habano on-deck.
It’s somewhat ironic, too, that I picked both of these sticks before the two energetic personalities known behind the brands—separately known, of course—either announced or had it revealed that they would leave their respective companies. We’re talking about Sam Leccia of Cain/NUb (Oliva Cigars) and Tim Ozgener of CAO.
Both are leaving a legacy of excellent cigar brands for us cigar lovers, one of which is the marvelous CAO La Traviata:
This is only the third true video review we’ve done, and we’ve reviewed only five cigars in total here so far. That being said, this CAO La Traviata is the first stick I’ve reviewed where I don’t want to give away two of them. Oh well, them’s the breaks. And you benefit because of it.
SWEEPSTAKES ALERT!
This week’s sweepstakes is now over. We’ll select a winner tomorrow, and we’ll let you know who it is directly on the front page, and via both the @bobatstogied and @stogiedweb Twitter accounts.
Do you agree with the review? With the scores? How about the thumbs up/down portion? Let us know in the Comments section.

Another nice review. Anyone have ideas on what Leccia and Ozgener have planned?
Thank you, sir, appreciate the kind comments. I read somewhere (can’t remember where) that General Cigar would close CAO down entirely, and that’s why Ozgener left. Who knows .. but somehow I don’t think we’re done with news regarding CAO. When I spoke with Leccia and his people a couple of weeks back, everyone was very tight-lipped about any next plans. So the same thing that can be said about CAO (in terms of more coming) can definitely be said about Leccia. He’s a very nice guy, too.
Cool review. I love these cigars. Thanks for the contest!
@keith1911
Thanks, Keith. My throat/cold is getting to the point where cigars just might start to sound good. But I’m still a few days off from that. My second one back, though, will be this one; my first one has to be the one I’m reviewing for next week!
Thanks For The Handsome Cigar Review.. Hope You Feel Better N Have A Happy Turkey Day! Good Job N Thanks Again For The Reviews N Giveaways!
